$250 parking ticket

I was "standing" in the handicapped space while micah ran into the store. the keys were IN THE IGNITION,  engine running, while I sit IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT. I argued with the cop over the term "PARK" or "STAND" which he referred to the gear I was in (park). I asked, "next time- how about neutral?" we are contesting the ticket...

thursday night amtrak offload

micah had to work gourmet chicago again this year. he asked gramee to come up and babysit. SHE DID! big feat for linda- we are so proud of her!!! (sorry linda- we REALLY are so happy you came!) she rode the train up and left butch at home. (that part was bittersweet. I'm sure he enjoyed the quiet weekend but I know he missed his littlest grandson.) we met gramee at the train station on thursday night, where, one of the conductors let emmit try on his hat. (now emmit wants to be a "policeman.") gramee kept emmit home on friday (cupcake day) and then, on saturday, had a picnic in the park with our neighbor, grace, for 3 hours!  sunday, I joined them for brunch prior to heading off to the park followed by a costco warehouse trip all before, finally, visiting micah in millenium park. great. weekend. (as said by mommy and emmit)

friday cupcakes

gramee came up with this project to do with emmit. (we told her he LOVES to help out in the kitchen.) she figured it would be a 2 day event; baking the cupcakes one day and frosting them the next. well... emmit sat so patiently through the baking AND cooling of the cakes that she didn't have the heart to enforce the plan. so... it took them ALL day to make, frost, and decorate these beauties. gramee's famous (last) words: thank goodness we only did half the recipe  (>‿◠)

saturday: gramee wore him out!

emmit has consciously broken the thumb habit but not unconsciously. he saw this picture just now and asked, "why am I sucking my thumb?" note to self: we need to be more regular about taping his thumbs at bedtime.

gourmet chicago

and a lil foodie too. actually, he had NO interest whatsoever. but a good sport nonetheless. I think linda was proud to see her own son in his element.
