is overrated. every year the weekend before thanksgiving, the city of chicago (let's not lie; it's really disney) puts on a parade down the mag mile of michigan ave in which mickey mouse "magically" torches up the holiday lights. unless you get there at 8a to hang out at the curb, it's not worth it. this is what I saw:

we went downtown to state street to watch the parade this year. it was very very cold. and damp. (enticing?) emmit had a great time. he stayed a lot warmer than i did! I DID have fun watching them get the balloons under the EL trax, though...

we spent the holiday with the buenzows in elgin (obviously).  we departed the norm by having a CREATE YOUR OWN PIZZA- PARTY.  and even though there was no turkey, we still ended up with leftovers.  oh yea, eva, i forgot to bring home my 10 lbs of cheese.  it's in the fridge next to your leftover 4 lbs of cheese.
