worn out

our play date was a little long so we missed our nap. the plan was just to put emmit to bed an hour early. he beat us to it  :)

fun with cousins

sleeping?

emmit has been sleeping quit a bit better than before. thank goodness. we leave a (20 watt) light on for him and he HAS to stay in bed. he complies- for the most part. he still wakes in the middle of the night but without crying, unless the lights out, ect. we know this because he goes down for the night with his blanket and thumb but wakes up in the morning with a pile of books and his pictures of mommy-daddy. (yes. one word. emmit's definition: to be used interchangeably as either parent.)

night terrors

we have had a really rough week. we have been so fortunate that emmit has always been a GOOD sleeper. i guess that is why this past week has been so tough. all of a sudden, emmit is SCARED. everything we read said NOT to let him cry it out. we tried comforting him and sitting next to him but when trying to diminish that time, it only doubled. we disagreed with the former and ended up letting him cry it out. first night of plan B: 4 hours of sleep followed by 5 continuos hours of screaming. (i only wish that was exaggerated!) we decided it couldn't get any worse. even if he screamed the next night for 7 hours- what's the difference? second night of plan B: 1 hour of crying,  4 hours of sleep, 1 more screaming hour before, finally, 5 hours of babbling nonsense behind his gate waiting to greet us with a mountain of books he had read over the last 5 hours of said timeframe. (the TOO MUCH SALT video, if you noticed, stars one raspy-voiced little 2-and-a-half year old...) we have been doing MUCH better over the last couple of days. emmit still wakes up 2-3 times over night but I go into him and assure him Mommy and Daddy are within earshot and promise him the world then return to bed. :)

it's just about park time
